Commissioned Art – A Personal Work with Meaning
Sometimes an image can say more than words. A work of art can capture a memory, mark a new beginning, or honour someone you love.
I create commissioned paintings inspired by personal stories. Each piece is made in close collaboration with you and built up in layers of colour, texture and meaning.
Why commission a personal artwork?
A personal work of art has the power to move you. It is more than decoration: it is a story made tangible.
It might be:
- A meaningful gift for someone you love or for a parent
- A way to remember someone you miss
- A piece marking a new beginning or an important moment in your life
- An artwork reflecting something you are going through or discovering within yourself
People sometimes describe these works as a kind of monument. Something lasting. Something that remains.
How does it work?
We start with a short conversation.
You share the story, moment or feeling you would like the work to express. We can meet in person, speak by phone or talk online.
I create the artwork in my studio.
My way of working is intuitive and abstract, sometimes incorporating words, and always built up in layers. Together, we decide on the size and any wishes or ideas you have for the piece.
- Starting the work – Once we have agreed on the commission and I have received a 50% deposit, I begin creating the piece. Payment in instalments can also be arranged.
- Process & feedback – During the process, I will send you photos or videos so you can follow the work as it develops and suggest small adjustments where needed.
- Delivery – Your artwork will usually be completed within 3–6 weeks. Framing can be arranged in consultation with you.

- Feedback – Small adjustments during the creative process are included. Significant changes or additional work will be discussed and charged separately.
- Cancellation – Before work begins, the commission can be cancelled subject to a fee of 25% of the agreed price. Once work has started, the deposit serves as the minimum fee.
- Ownership & copyright – The artwork becomes yours once the invoice has been paid in full. Copyright remains with me as the artist. I may photograph and share the work on my website or social media, unless we agree otherwise.
- Unforeseen circumstances – If something unexpected occurs, such as illness, we will work together to find a suitable solution.
My work does not aim to capture an exact image. It captures emotion. Each piece is abstract, intuitive and created in response to the story you share with me.
